Fashion and Style are not the same I'd rather have style than be in fashion.

This blog is a scrapbook not a novel and it represents what I have done and will do.

Narrative of the final images.

I put this together as I wanted to show the narrative of the set of final images chosen.
Due to the accessories and makeup being taken from the matchbox/matches colours and the fibre of the wood element that the matcbox/matches is made from.
Our concept is derived from this with a link to how the wood element is about growth. The accessories depict this by how they have been postitioned by the stylist on the model.
The last image of the logs depicts the source of element in its natural state.
Based on a Trend, Tribal is on trend this summer as it has been before. And in a fast becoming eco-friendly world that has crossed over to fashion the accessories in this shoot fit well with the trend.

Final Images.

These are the final Images. They were taken with a flash cord with 2 softboxes. I think they work really well as a set and as a narrative to do with our concept of incorporating the matchbox colours in the makeup and skintone. Also the accessories link to the fibre of the matches as wood. The hairstyles represent in some of the photographs a sense of a flame, this is due to the height of the hair and how it is swept up and over. We really wanted the images to look natural so thats why the makeup is light and hasn't been airbrushed. This is to show imperfect beauty which to me links to our object having one of the matches being broken slightly.

All day in the Studio - Final Shoot

First Test Shot With Flash Lighting.
Marie and Ashleigh did the models makeup. Makeup used - Barry M white foundation, Pressed powder, Orange eyeshadow, Coppertone lipstick, Mascara and blusher. All tones were neutral and rustic.

Lighting and styling tests were done on Edie the mannequin before the model arrived at 4pm. The Crowns were made by Ashleigh and Marie. I think they are fantastic, I like the way they had made a range of styles.

Edie the Mannequin being used before Lucy's arrival. The accessories being arranged under the lighting for test shots as seen above.

Ashleigh used my camera whilst myself and Adam were testing lighting. She took photographs of Marie wearing the items that would be placed on the model.

Ecological Idea - Meeting The Elements.

These images were found by Marie in Above magazine. I love the styling in these especially the Crown in the top photo.

Sample Lighting Model Test Shoot

These shots were taken by myself as a sample for the lighting that could be used for the final shoot.
I really like the pale blue filter and the green these pictures will be helpful for the shoot as a reference point.
Filters used: Green, Blue, Yellow and Red.
I have recommended Lucy as the model for our final shoot. As she has been involved throughout some of the test shoots. I think she has a edgy look that works well on camera. I have built up a photographic and personal friendship with her over a few years and this has helped me in my development as a photographer.

Tribal Makeup and jewellry.

The Stylists Marie and Ashleigh brought a wide selection of accessories that fitted with the concept. These were all made from wood. This fits well with the tribal look that is in trend. A creative and colourful trend with makeup and hair to match.
Braided and big hair is used with this trend. It is a look that is easily achieved for all. It can be toned down for day wear and you can glam it up for evening wear.

Whilst in a tutorial with Adam Murray I was trying to get direction with the concept for the group. As myself and Adam Beazley had done 3 test shoots and 1 location shoot I felt unsure where to go with our object and the initial ideas.
Adam Murray showed me Phantasmogoria. I like the whole concept on illusion and the spectacle and even if we don't incorporate this in our final idea/concept/photoshoot this is something I will take on personally in my own practice.

Test Shoot 3 : If you can't get a nude model get a mannequin - Helmet Newtonesque.

This was the third test shoot myself and adam did. This was test limited lighting so we had to rely on our technical skills. As we had the mannequin with us we thought we would do as Rankin did in the documentry we watched in a lecture, with regards to recreating a classic photograph.

2nd Test shoot.

Adam and I took Edie the Mannequin into the digital studio and decided to project the locations that we had photographed the week before onto her.
We initially liked the mannequin merging into the background but then we started to notice that the locations when arranged, looked like a projected outfit on to the mannequin. This really excited me, I loved the way it looked. And because of our previous group work using a projector we had the ability to work well technically as photographers. It was really interesting that nothing was real in this shoot, yet the images are really strong and I think interesting.
I find studio photography with just a plain background quite uninspiring so doing this helped me feel creative. We took turns in arranging the projector to create the look of an outfit which was really fun. We also tried out having a flash light so that the background would be bleached out yet the projection on the mannequin would remain. After seeing the results myself and Adam gained some of the backgrounds give the mannequin a tribal look especially with the way the locations give her a mask. This is something to think about with regards to styling and colours with regards to the matchbox.

Though I love this idea and the results of the test shoot there can't be any styling done by the stylist unfortunately as it is done by the movement of the image on the projector. Though myself and Adam have both agreed to continue with this project as we like how it looks.
